Using Mobile Access Keys

What Is a Mobile Access Key?

A Mobile Access Key is required to log in to the eStela Mobile App. It links a specific mobile device to a boat in a tracking session.

Each boat registered in your fleet — including committee boats — is assigned its own unique Mobile Access Key.

Who Can Create Access Keys?

Only tracking session administrators can generate Mobile Access Keys. These are created automatically when a boat is added to the fleet through the eStela web interface.

How Access Keys Work

  • One key per boat: Each boat gets a single, unique key.

  • Shared login: Multiple devices can log in using the same access key. All devices will be linked to the same boat.

  • Single tracker: During a tracking session, only the first device to activate tracking will be considered as the boat’s active tracker. Others will be ignored for position data.

This setup allows teams to share the same login across multiple devices as backup, while ensuring that only one is contributing tracking data.

Switching Boats in the App

If a user needs to track a different boat:

  1. Open the mobile app

  2. Tap Change boat

  3. Enter the new Mobile Access Key for the desired boat

This allows quick transitions between boats without reinstalling or logging out manually.
